Let’s Take a Walk:  Discover Italianate Architecture in Downtown Gettysburg, Wednesday, May 12, 3-5

It is hard not to notice the Italianate style of architecture in Gettysburg if you know what you are looking for.  Join us as Nancy Whitman, local author and Italian Renaissance Architecture enthusiast, leads you on a walking journey of downtown Gettysburg.  We’ll meet at the Arts Council for a short introduction to Italianate Architecture to identify the elements of Italianate architecture.  Then, we will take a walk within a couple of blocks from the Arts Council and see up close, about 30 buildings in this style.   Join us!   Nancy Whitman, $20

About the Instructor:

I love architecture and have studied the life and work of the Italian Renaissance architect, Andrea Palladio, in the US and Italy.  I’ve given presentations to various groups including the Arts Council and AC Historical Society.  It’s hard not to notice the Italianate style in Gettysburg; I’ve been studying it and want to share this with others.  Nancy Whitman
