Colored Pencil for Beginners, Fridays, November 4-December 16 (no class on November 25), 10-noon

This six week study will provide students the foundational skills needed to learn how to create beautiful colored pencil renditions.  Your instructor, Stanley Gilmore will demonstrate and teach a variety of colored pencil techniques to include: fusing a color, burnishing, layering, and other facets of using Prismacolor colored pencils. Students will learn one and two point perspective, along with instruction on composing landscapes, rendering an animal or bird, portraits, and other subjects. Internet sites will be provided for non-copyrighted subjects as well as a great site to grid a subject for replicating to one’s paper. Worthwhile handouts will be provided, as well.  Come prepared for interesting insights in using the beauty of colored pencils! $128 ($140)

  1. Prismacolor Premier (36 colors minimum, 72 good to have)
  1. Colorless Blender Pencils (Generally two in a pack)
  1. Strathmore Pastel Pad 9 x 12 assorted colors
  1. Kneaded eraser
  1. HB pencil but 2B will work
  1. Isopropyl Alcohol or Gamsol
  1. Q-tips to use with alcohol for blending
  1. A good pencil sharpener – small hand held have tendency to

brake the lead

  1. Pad of tracing paper
